Music Fest in Sugar Grove 2008 Carolina Chocolate Drops
July, 2008

The Music Fest 'n Sugar Grove carried on this year without Doc Watson. It was reported that he had just had surgery and his recovery was taking a bit longer than planned.

However, the crowd was large, the weather beautiful and the music superb. The Carolina Chocolate Drops wowed the audience with its African-American Stringband music and the Kruger Brothers played favorites and led the jam session each night.

Cadillac Sky performed on Friday night and local favorites Lisa Baldwin and Dave Haney plus Amantha Mill performed on Saturday. A second stage, the Solar Stage, was sponsored by the High Country Press and was fully solar-powered. For the first time, a gospel session was held on Sunday and the tent was full in spite of some rain.
