The Greenway Trail is part of a Boone recreation area shared by locals, visitors and the Appalachian State University Cross Country team. The area includes not only the Greenway Trail but also the Watauga County Swim Complex and the Don Kennedy Trails.

The Lee and Vivian Reynolds Greenway Trail is 3 miles long and relatively flat. Bikers, runners and walkers share this spacious trail.

The Watauga County Swim Complex has 6 indoor lanes and is the home of the Watauga County Swim Club. Adults can swim for $4 and seniors (60) for $3.50. Swim lessons are available.

"The Watauga County Parks & Recreation Department offers a year-round calendar of public recreational programs available to persons of all ages and ability levels. Facilities include both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, athletic courts and fields of all descriptions, the community’s two-mile Greenway Pedestrian/Biking Trail and several public parks."
