The 22nd annual Trade Days Festival will be held June 25 - 27 2010 in Trade Tennessee. Trade is the easternmost town in Tennessee and was a gateway for early pioneers going west. Daniel Boone came through this gap in the mountains. A trading post was established here where Native Americans and pioneers could conduct business.

The centerpiece of the Trade Days Festival is the Pow-Wow. These events takes place nearly continuously throughout the 3-day festival and feature competition drumming and dancing.

T.J. the Clown was there daily and children had the opportunity to climb the National Guard Rock Wall. There were 2 new shows this year. Magician Jimmy Dixon who has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and the Puppetone Rockers entertained young and old.

The community center offered quilting, weaving, and crocheting displays. Children made biscuits, watched cheese making and butter churning.

Outdoor demonstrations included the making of apple butter and lye soap, tobacco twisting, a blacksmith exhibit and the operation of engines and antique saws. The Historic Trade Mill was open and operating. The fair offered truly unique local and Native American crafts and foods.

This artist, William Menya, lives in Kingsport, Tennessee and is originally from Kenya. He carves figures and functional pieces such as chess sets from soapstone and wood.
